What is the Shamal wind?

The Shamal is a strong northwesterly wind that blows across the Arabian Gulf, carrying sand and dust from Iraq and Kuwait. During major Shamal events, visibility can drop dramatically and flights may be delayed or diverted until conditions improve.

November through March offers the most pleasant conditions with lower temperatures and reduced dust storm risk.
